Most parents understand the importance of preparation. As parents, we are continually preparing our children for something: We equip them with necessary school supplies in preparation for the first day back in the classroom. We diligently shop for just the right shoes in preparation for basketball try-outs. We help our child review the study questions in preparation for the next history exam.
What motivates you to assist your child to prepare for such things as new situations, events, and challenges?
Do you want him to be equipped for the task at hand, successful in future endeavors or able to learn to be prepared on his own?
Parents know what children don’t always recognize: proper preparation is a predeterminer of success. So, in what ways are you training your children to be spiritually prepared?
2 Peter 1:3 tells us: His (God’s) divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.
Imagine that Almighty God makes everything necessary for life and godliness available to us through our knowledge of Him. This means that our children can be fully prepared, lacking nothing, for success in every area of life. From this verse we learn that preparation must be developed through increasing knowledge of God.
In what ways are you using God’s Word to prepare your child for life situations? Are you preparing your child for spiritual success by training him or her to follow God’s will?
It’s precious that our loving God provides us with everything necessary to live victorious, abundant lives in Him. We need only be prepared.
