It isn’t uncommon these days while scheduling an appointment with a professional, applying for a debit card, or making a simple Internet purchase to first be presented with specific terms set by those in charge. Of course, it’s your choice whether or not to accept the terms that are offered. If you decline, it merely means that you cannot participate in a relationship with the company or benefit from its privileges. On the other hand, if you accept their terms of agreement you may profit from the benefits, but you will also be required to adhere to their rules.
Why then should it be surprising that Almighty God, ruler of the universe, authority supreme has set forth terms of agreement for those who desire to enter into a relationship with Him?
Interesting enough, the terms set forth by other entities are often subject to change without prior notice. However, God’s terms have existed for over 3,000 years and remain consistent to this day. One of the statements of God’s terms of agreement reads as follows:
If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. All these blessings will come upon you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God. (Deuteronomy 28:1-2)
Now, consider the significance of God’s terms in parenting. The same terms God set forth for His people in the Old Testament, are offered today to each of us. Parents, this means that, rather than negotiating our own terms, we can confidently rely on terms provided to us through God’s Word. And, in turn, He will provide us with eternal benefits.
Parents, have you agreed to the terms of godly parenting? Are you faithfully following the terms God has set for you and reaping the promised blessings from them?
